Their 2008 return, In Ghost Colours delivers both timelessness and forward thinking as the trio embarks on the next phase of their acclaimed career. Haunted with machines of the past and sounds of the future, In Ghost Colours inhabits the space in time where trends are irrelevant and 1969 is as important as 2020. Both electronic and organic, Cut Copy have crafted a record filled with glorious sounds and moods, unabashed pop song structures with hooks and melodies for eons. Cut Copy’s 2004 debut Bright Like Neon Love introduced the band as a dance-infused trio whose songs transcended the carbon copy pop makers of modern disco. Bright Like Neon Love produced two groundbreaking singles, “Going Nowhere” and “Saturdays,” which boasted the vision of frontman/Cut Copy creator Dan Whitford and the talents of drummer Mitchell Scott and guitarist Tim Hoey. As the band evolved into an Australian Festival mainstay, they also toured globally with Franz Ferdinand in preparation for their follow up album. Cut Copy on MySpace To the uninitiated The Presets are Julian Hamilton and Kimberley Moyes, Aussie wizards of demented electro pop. Their debut album Beams hit Australian shores late 2005 and the ensuing singles ‘Are You The One?’, ‘Down Down Down’, ‘Girl and The Sea’ and ‘I Go Hard, I Go Home’ have become bona fide dance floor fillers and faves on both radio and TV. While the guys may have been a little quiet on the studio side of things, as a live concern they’ve sharpened their collective tools to become one of the most in-demand live acts in the world – with almost 300 shows across 20 countries in the past 18 months alone. From playing to clubs kids in Barcelona, New York and Istanbul, then thousands of S&M leather daddies at the Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco, to over one hundred thousand people at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin and every imaginable key festival in-between, Julian and Kim have covered almost every corner of the globe with their take no prisoners live show. There’s a palpable sense that all this live experience has carried its energy into the studio. As a taster to their sophomore album (landing early 2008), ‘My People’ is gargantuan. A snarling beast of a record, it bristles with fuzzy scratches of guitar snaps, bubbling arpeggiated synths and an instantly memorable, call-and-response, chanted hook. The song sounds like the rattling of an electrified disco zombie chain gain. The Presets on MySpace Kordan on MySpace Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster.com or by calling 651-989-5151.
