The world according to The Family Stand is full of funk, love, rage and introspection. Formed by the powerhouse triple team of vocalist/keyboard wizard Peter Lord, vocalist multi-instrumentalist V. Jeffrey Smith and soul siren Sandra St. Victor in the early '90s, the band made the legendary Moon In Scorpio before going on hiatus in 1999. They have sustained a ravenous, excited following even in their absence. Largely this is because their dazzling live shows back in the day.
Singer, Songwriter, Entrepreneur, & Social Activist, Shelby Johnson — or as Prince dubbed her “Shelby J.” — is a native of Greensboro, North Carolina. She is the CEO of Blackgypsy Enterprises. Her company specializes in spreading positive messages through recorded Music, Books, Art, Fitness Training & Live Performances. The core messages being to inspire Love & Light. Shelby has performed with some of the greatest talent in recorded music history.
Julius Collins is a renowned singer in Minneapolis. Managed by Prince when he first moved to the city from Atlanta, his band Black Julius emerged on the scene with a blend of rock and funk. Next up was the formation of the phenomenal group, Greazy Meal. which was comprised of some of the best musicians in Minneapolis. They packed the local clubs to capacity, and formed a following that is still dedicated to the music and energy they created on the scene.
Poet/Songwriter/Singer artist Ingrid Chavez always trusts her instincts. The one-time Prince muse and lyrical engine behind Madonna’s 1991 Number 1 hit "Justify My Love" charted a brave new course at a critical juncture, pouring her creative energy into motherhood as her music career was taking off. The birth of her daughter helped Chavez gain a new perspective on the lives of women, sparking a surge in creativity across a variety of mediums.
